I’m participating this week in a challenge/contest for Unity Stamps on Splitcoast Stampers. The challenge was to create a date invitation for your husband, and I thought trying to make a sexy card was a big change from my usual style!
I created the bra template myself from red cardstock, then stamped it with a flourish stamp from Unity Stamp Co. All the stamps I used are from my first month’s kit from Unity Stamp Co, you get a lot of stamps for your money and the rubber inks up so well – I love that they are mounted on cling foam, the system works really well.
I used a foam brush and black ink to add dimension to the bra, inking around it to shade the edges and make it look more rounded. It’s amazing what a difference a small detail like that makes! I used a white gel pen to add stitching.
Before I glued the bra to my patterned paper (Kaiser Scrapbook) I punched a thin strip of black cardstock with a lace border punch from Martha Stewart. I dampened the CS so it would shape more easily and gathered it into little pleats, gluing that behind the top edge of the bra cups. Ooh! Sexy!
I stamped the heart in white craft ink (SU!) on both red and black card stock, and embossed with white embossing powder (Tsukineko). I just bought the white embossing powder yesterday. I cut out the red heart and mounted it on the black wings with foam tape to pop it out a bit.
I stamped the sweet nothings sentiment using Ruby Red from SU! and glued the whole shebang to the card base. The bra template would work well for a shaped card simply by tracing the top of the bra straps on the fold line – then the “take off my bra” idea would work even better! But I really wanted to use some of the green DP – it’s one of my favourite paper patterns. Can you imagine the bra template on a red polka dot paper – would make a great bikini!
