Stand Up Card Box tutorial

I made this pretty card box with matching cards with my Hobbysew Echuca design team package. It is fun to figure out creative packaging, and maybe one day I’ll even be able to figure out complicated patterns!

I like this card box because you can decorate both the front and back panels, and because it stands upright and displays portions of the cards inside. Also it would be easy to score the back panel so that it could flip around and close the box. This set went to Australia to the Hobbysew store in Echuca, Victoria, but I made one last week just for me.

I went with a school theme and this would be a great boxed set to give to a favourite educator!

I made six cards to go with the set – quick and easy 4″ square cards using this fun apple stamp and sentiment from Unity Stamp Co. Being a member of their monthly kit club has left me with a wonderful bounty of stamps and both my kids and I love using them.

Look at this! I’m so proud – this is my very first Silhouette cutting file! I needed an envelope to fit my 4″ cards and designed this for my Silhouette. It just fits on an 8 1/2″ wide sheet of paper and I added a cute little apple cutout on the front of the envelope as well.

I’m happy to be able to share the file with you – with a little tweaking you should be able to size it for any square envelope. Now here’s the instructions for the card box:
Cut two pieces of cardstock:

Score on three sides:

Trim corners and border punch top edges:

Adhere both pieces together:

Voila! Thanks for sticking with me through this LONG post. Have a great day!
