Papertrey Ink April Blog Hop

Hi! This is my first time ever participating in the Papertrey Ink monthly blog hop – go easy on me, okay? And leave me lots of encouragement so I do it again! was that just a blatant comment plea? how embarrassing!

I’ve been working really hard on mini albums lately (you remember my Little Golden Book altered album) and after completing an album for my son and one for my hubby (which is the basis for my Mini Album Masterpiece class on May 8th), I am hard at work on an album for my middle girl which is going to be UH-mazing!

But I had to take a break to make a few cards for a couple of new moms I know. I’m headed to a baby shower tonight for a sweet newborn boy, and trying to make a plan to visit the new baby girl born to another friend. I used five of my seven PTI stamp sets to create the following cards:

I have great admiration for stampers who can make beautiful patterned paper using their stamps. I tend to make my beautiful patterned paper from beautiful patterned paper. But I gave it a shot and by mixing two stamp sets (Calendar Basics and Mat Stack 5), I came up with a good mix of large and small stamps for my pattern. I distressed the stamped image and then ran it through a swiss dot embossing plate.

I also love how my little rattle turned out – I made this using a circle punch and a scallop circle punch, and then die cutting the Lock & Key dies from PTI to create the handle. Clever, right? I may just have to try that again sometime! I also inked the circular part of the rattle to make it look a little more rounded. I think it helps.

And as you can see, I had lots of fun with both cards using the inspiration photo – you can make both boy and girl cards  just by varying the quantity of each colour!

Thanks for hopping by and I hope you’ll check out the rest of the Papertrey Ink blog hop by visiting the link list here.

Great cards-I like both colors equally well. I love to make patterned backgrounds so was especially attracted to that part of your card. Very good overall design! :)
