Under the Sea: Playing in Paradise #71

How’s your week been? Mine started out really promising and then quickly went downhill. Just a lot of little things that kept flying at me like bugs on a windshield; after a while all the guts start to affect your perspective, if you know what I mean!

Even a bad day can change quickly though, so I believe in keeping a good attitude no matter what’s going on. I was reminded of that when I scrapped the photos below. I’m still gradually working through the pictures from our big vacation in early 2011. On this day we had drive down along the Oregon coast on a rainy February morning and it was so cold when we got out to view the ocean. A few miles down the highway though the sun came out and it was beautiful – everything changed when the sun appeared. I like comparing the photos and remembering how quickly our day changed from gloom to fun!

The theme for this week’s challenge is “Under the Sea” but I literally have no undersea-themed stamps so I went with a general ocean theme instead. I like using a mix of blues and a flourish that looks like a big splash to me.

I really like the font of these alpha stickers from Crate Paper’s Pretty Party collection. I won the whole line from a Crate Paper giveaway, but you can buy it at Scrapbooker’s Paradise since it’s in their new arrivals along with several other paper lines I just have to have.

Oh, these photos make me yearn for another vacation! We may not go far this year so maybe we’ll just have to plan a big trip that we can save for for a year or so. Hawaii, maybe?

Will you take the time to play along this week with our undersea theme? Check out the rest of the design team’s projects here and then add your own to the linky list before noon on Thursday, June 21st. Thanks for dropping by today and have a great weekend!

  1. We did that Oregon coast trip …in the rain too. Did you see the sea lions cave?
I love this interpretation, lovely family memories to treasure. Sorry to hear you had a bugg….er…bad week.
Hope your windshield wipers are working again :)
    Keep smiling and creating

  2. Fantastic layout Angela, I love your bug and a windshield analogy and it is so true some days. The Oregon coast
is fabulous, I don’t think it is ever really warm and you have to not mind the wind but it is certainly something to enjoy. Great photos :)

  3. Well, a big ‘meh’ on the week’s bug guts piling up on you. Sometimes you’re the dog, sometimes you’re the hydrant, right? Doesn’t make it any more pleasant during those hydrant weeks, though. Ugh.
I love these photos – the variety of feelings gathered together tells such a story! And although we’re close to the Atlantic Ocean, I miss the Pacific for the drama. Don’t get me wrong, we can pull off a storm, but not the capriciousness of the Pacific all in a day (or an hour, sometimes…lol!)

  4. Great take on your memories from that day (both in your scrap page and outlook!). Love the BG elements here…lots of texture to look at it!
