Three Peeks and More to Come!

Hi friends! That always sounds dorky when others write it on their blogs, but I’m going to roll with it – I appreciate my blog community so much and your encouraging comments!

Things are busy around here! My van is in need of serious repairs – head gasket – and I am so thankful for a mechanic husband. Unfortunately, he is only available evenings and weekends so I am without a vehicle for at least a week. Yesterday I was so productive – got the house cleaned, baked some fabulous chocolate chip peanut butter oatmeal cookies, and cleaned the scrap room. Now I have a stack of magazine calls for submission that I would love to submit to, so that’s on my agenda next.

This is my last month posting for gel-a-tins stamps and I wanted to go out with a bang. So I made a chocolate gift set that you have got to see! Check out the gel-a-tins blog to see the whole thing – here’s a peek:

Other cool news: I got a submission acceptance yesterday from Create: magazine. Until now I’ve only seen projects in Paper Crafts and Canadian Scrapbooker, so it felt great to break into a new publication. Now I just have to wait for spring to see it in print.

Speaking of publications, did you know that the Nov/Dec issue of Paper Crafts magazine is available for sale now? Did you know I have two cards in it? One is my Stamping Royalty winning card, and the other is this one:

Seeing as Paper Crafts does a far better job of photographing projects than I do, you want to check out the issue to see it in its full glory. *wink*

And while we are on the topic of sneak previews, how would you like to see one of my Christmas cards from my upcoming Christmas card class? I’m using the beautiful Authentique line, Wonder and every Christmas stamp I own for this class – ten unique card designs with full instructions. If you’re interested in taking the class, please contact me and I’ll put you on the list. Date to be announced.

I’ll be posting ALL the cards in a day or two and you’ll drool, I promise!

Well, homeschool break time is almost over and then it’s time for our daily spelling test, followed by history and Bible, and swimming lessons this afternoon. Busy moms, unite!

Linking to Some Design Team projects

Oh, I am bursting with ideas these days. Who needs housework and school anyhow? They do intrude upon crafting time.

You can visit the gel-a-tins blog to see this project, posted yesterday. I love trying out new products and I love the Many Thanks stamp set from gel-a-tins. Did you know they are running a new design team call right now? And you  have just a couple days left to enter the August monthly challenge – just by linking up you get a chance to win a stamp set – AND right now I don’t see any entries so your odds of winning are GREAT! September is my last month as a member of the gel-a-tins design team – it’s been a great time.

Today I’m posting on the Just Imagine blog as well. It’s my last design team post there. I can’t believe I have two design team stints that are ending – it’s been fun being a part of these great teams! Here’s a peek at my final project:

I’m busy organizing homeschool curriculum this week and making some cards for submission to publications but I’ll have a Doodle School post for you Thursday and it’s going to be a good one, if my idea works out. Oh, I have such a fun hobby!

Buttoned Up Thanks

I’m coordinating our church’s vacation Bible school program this week. Sixty kids, not-quite-enough volunteers and sunshine! What I’m saying is, there won’t be a lot of action on the blog this week!

I do have a card up on the gel-a-tins blog today. It’s a zero-layer card – go check it out!

I’m also getting excited about planning September’s Paper Therapy projects. Wondering if there’s a way I can internet-ize the layouts I’ve prepared for my studio classes so you can play along…I am not really interested in selling kits since Canadian shipping can be so expensive.

Gel-a-tins Blog Hop and a Giveaway!

Oh, summer! I have to love summer, it’s short and sweet in northern British Columbia, but we pack a lot of fun into every minute. And today I’m blog  hopping with the rest of the gel-a-tins design team, so you know it’s a good day! I’m having a great time on the design team – gel-a-tins makes fantastic stamps and I love their metal tin storage cases. Check out their brand new web site, but come back here and do the hop so you can win one of the great prizes gel-a-tins is giving away! Can’t wait to see what the rest of the team has to share and there’s big news on the gel-a-tins blog, leave a comment on each blog to max your chances of winning! We’ll draw a winner on July 11th.

One of the first stamp sets I received in my design team package was this “Sweet to the Core” stamp set. It’s been one of my favourite to use, the large solid images are so versatile, and in this project I used the apples to create a background by stamping in Versamark and heat embossing with White On! gelly powder. I then stamped one apple in red and heat embossed the sentiment using more White On! gelly powder. It’s a simple card, which just  makes the design more impactful (is that a word?).

Okay, so here’s the deal: If you are the lucky commenter on my blog, you get to pick one of the following fabulous gel-a-tins stamp sets:

Peace on Earth

Great, aren’t they? You definitely want to keep hopping and commenting because you never know, the next big winner could be YOU!

Orchids & Apples

My husband gave me this orchid for Mother’s Day. I love practicing my photography on my house plants, and when I process the photos I always see just why I am a watercolour artist – doesn’t this just scream “painting inspiration”? Just to change it up I think I’ll need to try a papercraft project inspired by this photo.

I do like the watercolour look of this card, made using gel-a-tin’s Sweet to the Core stamp set. Instead of inking up my stamps, I spritzed them with glimmer mist and stamped, then spritzed the card stock with a little more glimmer mist in the same colours, and then stamped the outlines. Super fun and cute!

I have a thing for canvas lately and that’s probably because I bought 3 metres of it from my art supply place. I’ve been painting on it AND stamping with it, and while it doesn’t take detail especially well, it makes a really cute sentiment tag on this card. I misted it with glimmer mist first, allowed to dry and then stamped the sentiment in chocolate ink.

Another acceptance email from Papercrafts magazine arrived in my inbox this afternoon! I’m becoming a regular…well, maybe in my dreams. But I will be seeing a project in the July/August and November/December issues, so that feels pretty good. Submitting can be a lot of work, but I like doing it because it really does spur me on to doing my best work. And there is so much support within the Papercrafts community that it’s just fun, too!

A Scrappy Kind of Update

Perfect sentiment for opening a post, don’t you think? So…Hey There! What have you been up to?

I can’t believe it’s Wednesday already. I feel May flying by. What I’ve been up to is a lot. Monday I submitted a handful of projects to Papercrafts’ Nov/Dec call for submissions, Tuesday I did my bi-weekly artist interview which I write for the local paper and taught a scrap class, and today I’ll be cleaning up the studio and planning for my painting class tomorrow night. I’ve also been working on gel-a-tins projects, like the card above, made with the Spin Cycle stamp set. Love the circles!

I updated my Ippity page last night – I’m clearing out my Ippity stamps since I’ve decided not to continue selling Ippity. I like the changes they are making, but since I am now able to buy wholesale and sort of run a mini-scrapbook store, I don’t need to commit to selling for just one company, especially as I’m such a product junkie and love all companies. Anyhow, my Ippity stamps are 20% off and every order includes a free cardmaking kit (paper, cardstock & sketches). Shop here!

My week has also been full of mail – I placed not one but two orders with Scarlet Lime and they arrived this week – LOVE all the india ink pens and can’t wait to do more mixed media paintings. I’m just about finished this one:

I’ve added leaves and a little Jenni Bowlin transparency since this photo was taken, and now the entire piece is sitting on a shelf. I check it every time I walk past, trying to decide if it’s done or if I need to add more layers.

And my name came up on the Creating Keepsakes blog this morning! They referenced my post on my messy studio, which makes me laugh, and blush a little – it’s humbling to flash my mess at the world!

And I’m now on Twitter. Not sure if I’m going to like it, but if you want to follow me, my username is @angelfehr.
