Linking to Some Design Team projects

Oh, I am bursting with ideas these days. Who needs housework and school anyhow? They do intrude upon crafting time.

Today I’m posting on the Just Imagine blog as well. It’s my last design team post there. I can’t believe I have two design team stints that are ending – it’s been fun being a part of these great teams! Here’s a peek at my final project:

I’m busy organizing homeschool curriculum this week and making some cards for submission to publications but I’ll have a Doodle School post for you Thursday and it’s going to be a good one, if my idea works out. Oh, I have such a fun hobby!

Summertime Smiles

It’s Friday! Today the kids head to their pizza party wrap up for the summer reading club. Both my girls read over 100 books which is a huge accomplishment when you’re in the 2nd and 3rd grades! And my boy listened to nearly 90. I know, I need to read to him more. We read The Monster at the End of this Book yesterday (one of my own childhood favourites) and he loved it – couldn’t stop giggling at silly old Grover!

For a homeschooling mom, the end of summer can be a little scary. It means getting back to a schedule, having less free time, and since my son will be doing kindergarten this year, a busier dynamic with three students instead of two. Having several boxes of wonderful new books to share with the children makes it exciting. I’m a book gobbler.

While I’m in summer mode, I’m having fun making bright and cheerful cards using “popsicle” colours. Here’s one I made using punches from Just Imagine Crafts and the Unity July KOM. Love these doodle flowers!

I’m posting over at Just Imagine today! Two cards, two styles, and a pile of punches! That card base is kraft resist paper from Tim Holtz and I love it. It has already inspired me to make my own kraft patterned paper using desert sand and black ink – I’ll show you that project soon, I hope!

Punchable Butterfly – Mother Card

I’m SO enjoying my design team term with Just Imagine/Kreaxions and all the wonderful punches I’ve been getting in the mail on a monthly basis. It’s becoming a slight addiction! And if you were smart, you played along last month with the many DT challenges and had a chance to win a punch – but if you didn’t, guess what?! You get another chance! This month it’s all about sketch challenges, and there are two great sketches up on the blog right now for to be inspired by, link up and be entered to win.

I used the card sketch, shown below, and the new butterfly die made by Kreaxions.

The beautiful papers are from Close to My Heart, and I die cut the butterfly from wood veneer cardstock. The butterfly is designed to be used with Kreaxions punches, which I think is totally cool! The doily shape underneath was cut using the circle cutter, and then punched using the template and punch #307.

So take a few minutes, have some fun creating, and join the May sketch challenge at Just Imagine. Don’t forget to read the rules before you start – there’s a little more than sketch inspiration going on and you wouldn’t want to miss out on a technicality, now, would you?

Spring-tastic Stenciling

I’m having a fantastic day! Isn’t spring wonderful? (It just arrived on the weekend here in northern British Columbia) With the weather so lovely, and the snow in full melt mode, I feel full of energy! Went for my first outdoor run (in 2011) yesterday, and today I got up early and went for a swim at the local pool. I’m only disappointed there’s no triathlon to train for this year – did a try-a-tri last year and it was great motivation to get active!

Today I have a post up at Just Imagine showing a fun stencil technique using border punches, and I also have a little shout on the Papercrafts blog – they added me to their designer blogroll. You can only be on the blogroll if you’ve been published in the magazine and so that was a great little nod for me. I’m having such fun creating these days. I’m in the middle of a watercolour painting, and I just finished another, and I’m working on a card kit that I’m going to make available for sale soon using some spring-tastic Cosmo Cricket papers.
