I wasn’t completely happy with the reference photo for my planned John Deere painting, so I’ve put it on hold for now. I am right now communicating with a JD collector who has agreed to send me some pictures that should work better. In the meantime, I have started a new painting, of the orchids at left.

These yellow orchids are from Liamo Reef Resort in Kimbe, West New Britain, Papua New Guinea. I am painting them on a half sheet of Waterford paper, that’s about 15″ x 22″ and I have high hopes for this one – I’m doing then as an extreme close-up, cropped right in to the focal point.

I’ll post progress pics later.
