Try saying that title three times fast!
I found a challenge today on Cuttlebug Challenges that gave me permission to use my much-coveted and hoarded stash of Cosmo Cricket paper. I love the Early Bird set, and the challenge was to create something suitable for back-to-school. Well, you may know that I homeschool my daughters and as Scooter starts kindergarten this year, I thought a little chalkboard for her to practice her letters on would be fun to make. When I made my cookie sheet calendar, I purchased a three-pack of cookie sheets and had no idea what to do with the smaller two. Today I took the smallest, it’s 9″x13″ and painted the interior flat black, using Delta Enamels paint. The paint was a little glossier than traditional blackboard paint, so after the first coat dried, I painted the second coat with a matte black acrylic paint. The enamels paint was just so the paint would stick to the metal.I used my Big Shot and Nestabilities to make the cork circle and felt scallop circle, layered with Stampin’ Up scallop circle and circle punches. I used a white paint pen to draw the guidelines for Scooter to print on.
I thought this little chalk holder was a nice touch!
All the papers and the green and red ribbon are from Cosmo Cricket. Red hanging ribbon from Walmart. The punches are from Stampin’ Up. Paint by Delta. I recommend using an extra strong glue to adhere everything – I used a hot glue gun.
The whole thing turned out pretty cute and Scooter is begging to start school so she can use it! Next week.
