This was my scrap class sample page last night. I sure enjoy my enthusiastic students! And I absolutely love this paper line – Stella & Rose Mabel from My Mind’s Eye. I love it so much I went to the warehouse and picked it out personally!
I started with an antique white card stock – Colonial White from Close to My Heart – and I stamped the doilies (also Stella & Rose) using Desert Sand ink (CTMH). I inked all the edges with Desert Sand then misted the page with Shimmerz Spray in a coppery colour.
Now if you know me, you know I’m a glue-er. I hate losing embellishments and bits of paper because I haven’t glued them down. So I always adhere as much as I can as I go. Sometimes this gets me in trouble and I end up ripping everything off and starting over, but mostly it is a case of working with what is already glued down and doesn’t hinder good design.
It also helped that I was using this sketch from the My Mind’s Eye blog, and I managed to submit my layout in their Challenge #21 before the deadline last night.
I used a free hand with the brads that I included with the class kit, and made my own tag by cutting and inking some kraft cardstock. I love the way people are layering embellishments, though the cheapskate in me usually tries to “save” product so I don’t use it all on one project. But if it makes a great layout, then I’m learning to say, go for it!
