"Waterton's Wake II" watercolour by Angela Fehr

“Waterton’s Wake II”
watercolour on paper, 9″ x 12″, available

For the first time in twelve years, I have no children at home. All three are spending a week at camp, which means I am busy trying to decide what to do with all this freedom! It’s not a difficult decision since all I want to do is paint. My studio is full of great painting ideas that need to be refined into finished paintings, I have a visit to the framer to plan and print orders to process. Artists need to be self-motivated and that’s easier to do some days than others. When the business side of art keeps me from painting, I get a little cranky.

Today is the last day to order prints of “Spray of Wild Roses” and in last week’s email I was going to mention that the original likely wouldn’t be available for long. It’s just that pretty. Well, I was right. That same day, “Wild Roses” sold, along with “Calypsos” and “Cascade,” all to the same collector. How fun it was to discuss plans for displaying these beautiful works of art in her home! When it comes to selling original art, I really prefer doing it with a personal consultation, in person, by phone or email, so that we can make sure every painting is a perfect fit.

Last weekend was so much fun! My husband entered his rat rod in the local car show and we got to spend the weekend admiring classic cars and talking horsepower. I’m not much on the motor talk, but I love dressing up and talking to old and new friends at these events. That’s my favourite. And I’m pretty proud of Wade’s very creative 1938 Fargo pickup truck!

The summer days are flying by! I am thankful we get to pack so many great experiences into them.
