One of my favourite times of year, at least where beauty is concerned, is the in-between seasons when the snow is gone, or almost gone, and the leaves haven’t emerged yet. There is a rainbow of the most subtle and interesting neutral colours in the landscape; and I rarely use brown to paint the hues I see, not when I can see violet, rust, gold, copper and red. Watercolour gives me permission to see more deeply, to take a hint of colour and emblazon it across the paper. I want to do this not only with colour, but with joy. Take a little blessing and throw a party, celebrate it with abandon instead of looking for something “even better.”
