Watercolour Workshop in Prescott, Arizona, March 19-20, 2019

Art is so often a solitary activity. We need studio time to develop our skills and learn to listen to our inner artist. But when you start to question yourself, or need support, the right instructor can provide guidance and affirmation at just the right time. That's one reason I so love teaching; I get to be there to build you up and see you thrive, and it's a thrill for both of us.

Workshops Help Us Grow

When I teach in-person workshops, that building up is always my goal. The opportunity, in a small class setting, to meet you where you're at and really be able to see what you are struggling with, and share what I've learned that can help, is fuller, more real, than what I can offer online. I've found that in teaching in person, I teach better online as well.

Workshops are fun!

We get to share our war stories, to create moments for in-jokes and anecdotes that non-attendees just wouldn't understand. There's an energy in the room that's contagious, and discoveries are made that inspire and shape an artist's journey in the months ahead. I remember well the workshops that I took as a new painter, and how they provided the new information I needed and the affirmation I was seeking. I took a workshop once right at a time when I knew I really needed to learn more about colour theory, and that course gave me the mortar for the bricks I'd been assembling, really cementing together the pieces of information I was struggling to manage. The best workshops do just that; they meet you where you're at and give you the momentum to take that next big leap.

Paint with me this spring

I'm delighted to be able to announce an opportunity for us to paint together, in person, at a two day watercolour workshop in Prescott, Arizona. I'll be in Arizona with my family during spring break and they have graciously accommodated time for me to teach while we travel. I think it helps that Prescott's such a beautiful town!
