Upcoming Gallery Shows
I'm looking forward to this art opening tomorrow night! The Dawson Creek Art Gallery is an unusual and creative space, housed in an old grain elevator, such an icon of western Canada. I have one painting in the 30th anniversary show, which is populated by pieces from most of the artists in the community - and since I haven't seen it yet, I'm sure there will be some surprises. Why not come and see what our little community has to offer? I've always felt so supported and included in the arts culture of our area, and have to say that that sense of community is one of the best things about being an artist in a small town. Don't forget that Sunday is the opening for the Peace Watercolour Show in Fairview, Alberta.
And then just a few days after that, on October 14th, the Peace River Chapter of the Federation of Canadian Artists will be opening their Peace Landscapes show in Dawson Creek. I have two paintings in this exhibition as well! So October is a busy month for me in many ways. In fact, I've been pretty stressed as I am dealing with my husband's corporation year end, some personal commitments and a busy class schedule. I am really looking forward to getting out and wandering some galleries and just caring about art for a few hours.
