Home is Where the Art Is: Opening at the Art Gallery of Grande Prairie

You are invited! home is where the art isYesterday I dropped off two paintings at the Art Gallery of Grande Prairie in Grande Prairie. Alberta for their exhibition as part of the "Home is Where the Art Is" show, celebrating the city's 100th anniversary. I had submitted three paintings to the juried show, and was very pleased to have two accepted, especially considering I haven't had any paintings in this particular gallery before. I have done most of my exhibiting in British Columbia, although the Alberta border is only a couple of miles from my house, and I really consider Alberta to be my "home province." Or, I should say, since Grande Prairie is part of the Peace River watershed, it feels like home too; our area is connected by the Peace River and that is where our roots lie.

I'm hoping to be able to attend the opening next Thursday night (April 24th) and you are invited too! There will be awards (I try never to expect anything, but I always hope!), and I'm so looking forward to seeing the show and seeing how my pieces fit in the exhibition. The few pieces I glimpsed when I dropped my paintings off promised a varied and eclectic gallery show.
