Angela Fehr's 2020 Watercolor Calendar Now Available

When I was a little girl, I loved art, even though I’d never seen an original painting. Art for me was in the children’s books I read and the labels on food packaging, and the Alberta Wheat Pool calendar. My grandma would save those calendar images, cutting off the bottom date grid and pinning the calendar pictures to the walls of her sewing room. How exciting to start a new year with a brand new calendar, full of exciting and colorful new eye candy! The artists chosen for those calendar pages were idols to me, artists who had really achieved something astounding in seeing their work in print.

Of course, that was back in the "1900’s,” as the kids describe my growing up years! Much has changed, and yet, calendars are still a part of our decor. As much as I like having a planner and calendar on my phone, when I look for the date, my eyes still go up to the spot on the wall where we hang our calendar, and I get the benefit of the information I was seeking alongside the image of the month.

My 2020 watercolor calendar is the fifth annual calendar I’ve created, and I’m so proud to be able to offer it to you. I choose paintings that were meaningful to me from the last twelve months of painting and growth, and as I go through the stacks of art to choose the qualifying images, I get to honour my art from the past year, see how I’ve grown as an artist and how my style has evolved. Nothing ever stays the same, and some of these paintings especially signify breakthroughs and milestones made and surpassed.

A few details about the calendar: the pages measure 9.5 x 17.5 inches and is printed on a heavyweight matte cardstock, much like watercolor paper. The calendar is spiral bound at the top, and has a hole at top for hanging. It is available online here, or if you live in the Dawson Creek, British Columbia area, you can purchase directly from me by sending me an email to reserve your copy.

I’ve heard 2020 called the year of seeing clearly, like 20/20 vision. A friend told me she’s hoping for a “roaring twenties” decade. For me, 2020 marks my 25th anniversary as a watercolor artist, something worth celebrating. I’m so thankful for the gift watercolor has been in my life. It’s helped me see the beauty in things both visible and invisible, as I paint not just my views, but my heart as well.
